Why Do People Get Baptized?

Why do people get baptized?

Answer: People get baptized because Jesus was baptized, and they want to follow his example. They also get baptized because Jesus told his followers to go into all the world, telling people about him and baptizing them.

Some Christians believe that babies from Christian families should be baptized to show that they belong to Christ.

Some Christians think that only believers in Christ should be baptized, to show that Jesus is their Savior. Either way, baptism is a very important event in a Christian’s life.

Key verse: And Peter replied, “Each one of you must turn from sin and come back to God. Then you must be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ.

For through him, you will find forgiveness for your sins. Then you also shall be given this gift, the Holy Spirit.” (Acts 2:38)

What Happens To People Who Don’t Go To Church?

Answer: Going to church doesn’t get a person into heaven. And not going to church doesn’t send a person to hell. A person becomes a Christian by faith — believing in Christ-not by doing good things.

Most Christians go to church because of what happens there. At church you can meet other Christians. You can find help for your problems and encouragement. You can learn from God’s Word and help others.

And you can experience wonderful worship, singing, and praying that glorifies God. People who don’t go to church miss all that. They miss a very special meeting with God.

Key verses: Then what can we brag about doing to earn our salvation? Nothing at all! Why? Because we were not forgiven because of our good deeds.

Instead, we were forgiven because of what Christ has done and our faith in him. So we are saved by faith in Christ, not by the good things we do. (Romans 3:27-28)

When is Jesus coming back?

Answer: Before Jesus left the earth many years ago, he promised to return some day. And after Jesus went up into the clouds, angels said he would come back eventually.

No one knows exactly when that will happen. It could be any day now. For Christians, this is a wonderful event to look forward to. Christ’s return will be the beginning of the end for Satan and all evil in the world.

Won’t it be great to see Jesus in person! Although no one knows when Christ will return, he told us to be ready. This means living the way he would want us to, using our time wisely, and telling others about God’s Good News.

Key verses: [Jesus is speaking] “But no one knows the date and hour when the end will be. Not even the angels know this. No, not even God’s Son knows this. Only the Father knows… So be ready at all times. For you don’t know what day your Lord is coming.” (Matthew 24: 36,42)
